Two Arrested Following Burglary at CastleCourt Shopping Centre in Belfast

BELFAST — The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have arrested two people following a burglary at a commercial outlet within the CastleCourt Shopping Centre in Belfast city centre.

The incident occurred in the late evening, triggering alarms within the prominent Royal Avenue shopping mall. Response officers were dispatched to the scene immediately, where they discovered evidence of forced entry to one of the central retail units. A prompt search of the surrounding area led to the swift apprehension of two suspects.

Swift Police Response

A spokesperson for the PSNI confirmed that the suspects, aged in their late 20s and early 30s, were detained on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen goods. Much of the stolen merchandise was recovered nearby and has been returned to the store owners.

“Retail crime is not a victimless crime; it impacts staff, business owners, and consumers alike,” the PSNI statement read. “Our officers acted swiftly to secure the scene, locate the suspects, and recover the stolen items. We remain committed to keeping our city center safe for businesses and shoppers.”

Impact on Local Commerce

CastleCourt management thanked the police for their rapid response and reassured the public that security protocols functioned as intended. The shopping centre reopened for regular business the following morning, with minor repairs already underway on the damaged storefront.
