Bail Granted to Man Accused of Stealing Alcohol in Belfast Lidl Burglary

A man accused of committing a burglary at a Lidl supermarket in Belfast has been granted bail in court. The prosecution alleges that the suspect forced entry into the retail store outside of operating hours and stole a significant quantity of alcohol before fleeing the premises.

Police officers were alerted to the break-in by an automated alarm system at the supermarket. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the store's glass entrance doors damaged and several shelves cleared of alcoholic beverages. A suspect matching descriptions obtained from security footage was detained nearby shortly after the incident.

During the bail hearing, the court heard objections from police investigators, who raised concerns about the risk of reoffending. However, the judge decided to grant bail under strict conditions, which include a curfew, an electronic monitoring tag, and a ban on entering any Lidl retail premises in Northern Ireland. The case remains active as police gather additional evidence.
