Bradford Jewellers Targeted in Brazen Daytime Ram-Raid
Daylight Ram-Raid Shocks Bradford Street
A brazen daytime ram-raid at a prominent Bradford jewellers has sparked a major police investigation. At approximately 11:12 am on Monday morning, West Yorkshire Police received multiple urgent reports of an ongoing burglary at Chacha Jewellers, located on the busy Great Horton Road. Shocked neighboring business owners witnessed a Nissan Navara repeatedly reverse and ram violently into the storefront three times. Remarkably, despite staff being inside the premises during the terrifying ordeal, no injuries were reported, and the thieves failed to steal any merchandise.
Security Smoke Cloak Thwarts Thieves
The attempted robbery was successfully thwarted by the store's robust security measures. Witnesses noted thick smoke billowing from the building, which was the result of a specialized security smoke cloak that deployed instantly upon the breach, entirely obscuring the thieves' vision and forcing them to flee empty-handed. The suspects abandoned the Nissan Navara at the scene and escaped in a second vehicle, a Land Rover. Police later located the abandoned Land Rover on nearby Little Horton Green. Detectives from Bradford CID are currently recovering both vehicles for forensic examination.
A Recurring Target
Disturbingly, this is the second time Chacha Jewellers has been targeted within a year. In August 2025, men impersonating police officers stole jewelry from the same store. Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the ram-raid or the abandonment of the Land Rover, particularly those with dashcam footage, to contact them via 101 quoting crime reference 13260308186.
Defending High-Value Retail Stores
The successful deployment of the smoke cloak in this incident highlights the importance of advanced security for high-value retailers:
- Install security smoke or fog systems (smoke cloaks) that instantly reduce visibility to zero, severely hindering a burglar's ability to locate and steal goods.
- Fit heavy-duty, anti-ram bollards directly outside the storefront to physically prevent vehicles from gaining enough momentum to breach the facade.
- Utilize shatter-resistant laminated security glass for all external windows and display cabinets to delay forced entry.
