Coventry City Centre Jewellery Shop Targeted in Audacious New Year's Day Smash-and-Grab

A group of masked thieves carried out a destructive New Year's Day smash-and-grab raid on a city centre jewellery store in Coventry, police have reported.

The incident occurred on January 1, 2026, during the holiday quiet hours. The perpetrators smashed the storefront windows to gain entry, grabbing high-value jewellery pieces before fleeing the scene. The raid left the shop front severely damaged, with shards of glass littering the pavement. West Midlands Police are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage from the city centre area on New Year's morning to contact them immediately.
