Edinburgh Jeweller Faces Closure After £20k Daylight Robbery by Three Women
A well-known, long-standing jewellery business in the heart of Edinburgh's city centre is facing the prospect of permanent closure after being targeted in a major daylight robbery. Three women reportedly entered the store and managed to steal stock valued at approximately £20,000, leaving the business owners devastated and questioning their future operations.
Daring Daylight Theft
The incident occurred during normal business hours in a busy central shopping district. The suspects operated in coordination to distract staff, allowing them to access high-value items and leave the premises without immediate detection. The high value of the stolen pieces has dealt a severe financial blow to the independent retailer, which has traded in Edinburgh for many years.
Potential Closure of Historic Store
Speaking after the theft, the jeweller indicated that the loss of inventory, combined with the general challenges facing high-street retail, may force them to cease trading permanently. Police Scotland have launched an investigation into the robbery, reviewing security footage to identify the three suspects and appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the women in the area at the time.
