Farnborough Burglar Jailed for 30 Months Following Crime Spree

Serial Burglar Sentenced

A serial burglar responsible for a string of break-ins has been brought to justice. Paul Capon, 63, of Clayton Road in Farnborough, was sentenced to 30 months behind bars at Winchester Crown Court on Thursday, June 4. An investigation by the Northern Area Crime Team led to his arrest and subsequent guilty pleas to two counts of burglary dwelling with intent to steal, and two counts of burglary dwelling and theft.

Details of the Offenses

The court heard that Capon's crime spree spanned several weeks. On October 22, he broke into a property on Hawley Road, Farnborough, stealing a wallet, cash, jewelry, and a watch. He also gained access to a property on Fernhill Walk on the same day but fled empty-handed. On October 28, he targeted a home on Ashbury Drive, taking jewelry, perfume, a watch, a handbag, and electronics. Earlier, on September 5, he had broken into a property on Lower Wokingham Road in Crowthorne, Berkshire, again leaving without stolen items. In a related case, Emily Mills, 31, of Redan Road, Aldershot, received a community order for handling stolen goods connected to the Ashbury Drive burglary.

Detective Sergeant Dan Lucas emphasized the severe impact of these crimes: "Burglary is one of the most intrusive crimes. It can have untold, long-lasting impacts on the victims and no one should have to feel unsafe in their own home." He expressed hope that the sentence sends a strong deterrent message.
