61-Year-Old Woman Charged with Harrogate Burglary and Fraud

Arrest Follows Targeted Burglary

A 61-year-old woman is scheduled to appear at York Magistrates’ Court facing serious charges of burglary and fraud following an upsetting incident in Harrogate. According to North Yorkshire Police, the incident occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, May 31. Officers received a distressing report that a suspect had unlawfully entered the home of a woman in her 70s and stolen her purse.

Fraudulent Activity Traced

Following the initial burglary, the situation escalated when the elderly victim's stolen debit card was swiftly utilized to make a series of unauthorized purchases at various shops across Harrogate. Responding immediately to the reports and utilizing gathered intelligence, police officers located and apprehended the 61-year-old suspect a short distance from the victim's address. She was subsequently charged and is due to appear in court on Monday, July 13.
