Two men jailed over £17,000 Leeds United sportswear heist near Harrogate
Two men have been sentenced to prison sentences after they carried out a high-value heist, stealing Leeds United sportswear valued at approximately £17,000 from an industrial estate near Harrogate.
The theft occurred at an industrial unit in February 2024, where the suspects broke into the facility and loaded a significant quantity of official Leeds United merchandise, including replica shirts, training gear, and hoodies. The targeted operation caused substantial losses to the business owners and disrupted local distribution channels.
Following an intensive investigation by North Yorkshire Police, the two suspects were identified, arrested, and brought to court. Both men pleaded guilty to charges of burglary and have now been sentenced to custodial terms. The judge noted the organized nature of the crime and the high value of the stolen goods when passing sentence.
Local business owners on the industrial estate have welcomed the sentences, stating that commercial burglaries are a major threat to their livelihood and that swift police action has sent a clear message to would-be thieves.
