Police Appeal After Distinctive Mobile Bar Land Rover Stolen in Harrogate

Unique Vehicle Targeted by Thieves

North Yorkshire Police have launched a public appeal for information following the theft of a highly distinctive vehicle from a business site in Masham, within the Harrogate district. The incident, which occurred in April, involved the theft of a black and white Land Rover Defender bearing the registration number CP12 OJE.

A Distinctive Mobile Bar

The stolen Land Rover is not a standard vehicle; it has been custom-converted into a mobile bar. It is easily identifiable due to its unique features, which include the words ‘Magic Rock Brewing’ prominently displayed on its sides and functional beer taps fitted to the exterior. Because of this highly unusual appearance, officers believe the vehicle stands out significantly and may have been spotted either being driven or parked since it was taken.

Police Appeal for Information

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police stated: “We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has seen this distinctive mobile bar vehicle since it was stolen or anyone who may have been offered a similar vehicle or bar equipment in suspicious circumstances.” Anyone with information is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 12260078367, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

Securing Commercial and Modified Vehicles

Modified vehicles and those used for commercial purposes are often targeted for their high value and specialized equipment. Owners should consider the following security enhancements:

  • Install robust, heavy-duty physical deterrents such as steering wheel locks and pedal boxes, which are especially effective on older vehicles like Land Rover Defenders.
  • Equip the vehicle with a Thatcham-approved GPS tracking system to aid in rapid recovery if stolen.
  • When parking commercial vehicles overnight, choose highly secure, well-lit areas, preferably covered by active CCTV surveillance.
  • Consider adding visible security markings to specialized equipment (like the beer taps) to make them harder for thieves to sell on the black market.
