Serial Burglar Claims He Got Friend's Address Mixed Up After Hull Raid

A serial burglar has appeared in court following a raid on a home in Hull, offering the unusual defence that he had simply mixed up his addresses and targeted the wrong house.

The experienced offender broke into a residential property in the East Riding of Yorkshire, but was subsequently arrested. During police interrogation and subsequent court proceedings, the suspect claimed he had intended to visit the address of an associate, and labeled the entire break-in a "stupid" mistake born out of confusion.

However, the prosecution highlighted the suspect's long history of burglary offenses, arguing that the explanation was a desperate attempt to avoid accountability. The court rejected the excuse, emphasizing the severe distress caused to the homeowners who had their privacy violated by a serial offender.
