Would-be robber targets BP garage opposite Inverness police station

Police are investigating a highly unusual and audacious attempted robbery at a BP service station in Inverness. The incident occurred at a premises situated directly opposite the main Inverness police station, making the crime particularly bold.

Staff at the service station reported that an individual entered the shop area and made demands, indicating that they were carrying out a robbery. However, the attempt was ultimately unsuccessful, and the suspect fled the scene empty-handed before officers could cross the street to intervene. No injuries were reported, although the staff member on duty was left shaken by the incident.

Given the proximity to the police headquarters, officers arrived at the scene almost immediately after the alarm was raised. Police have launched an appeal for witnesses, requesting anyone who was in the area of the BP garage or has dashcam footage from the surrounding streets around the time of the incident to come forward. Security measures at the station are being reviewed as the search for the suspect continues.
