Man Charged After Bizarre Regent Street Fuel Station Robbery in Leeds

A chaotic and unusual robbery at a petrol station on Regent Street in Leeds has resulted in charges being brought against a local man. The incident, which took place on February 8, 2024, was captured on security camera and quickly circulated online due to the unusual behavior of the suspect.

Charged with Robbery

Liban Mohamed, 28, of no fixed abode, has been formally charged with robbery in connection with the incident. During the disturbance, the suspect was filmed throwing various items and smashing property inside the petrol station's convenience store, causing panic among the staff on duty. The footage shows the suspect targeting shelves and counters in a frantic display before making off with items.

Police Action

West Yorkshire Police responded swiftly to the disturbance. Following a review of the video footage and forensic evidence from the scene on Regent Street, officers managed to locate and arrest Mohamed. He was remanded in custody ahead of his appearance in court. Police have thanked members of the public who provided information that helped identify the suspect in the video.
