An aggravated burglar who subjected a Leicester resident to a horrific two-hour ordeal inside her own home has been sentenced to a substantial prison term. Sebastian Kudlak, aged 39, carried out the home invasion on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at a property situated on the busy Narborough Road area of Leicester, leaving his victim severely traumatized.

Armed Confrontation and Physical Violence

The victim was alone at home performing routine household chores when she heard the property's unlocked outer door open. Believing it was her adult daughter returning home, she opened the inner door to welcome her. Instead, she was confronted by Kudlak, who was armed with both a handgun and a knife. He forced his way into the hallway, and when the terrified woman screamed for help, he punched her in the face. Kudlak then bound her hands using plastic cable ties, rendering her completely helpless.

Alexa Device Used to Raise the Alarm

Over the next two hours, the victim was kept captive while Kudlak searched the premises for valuables. In a poignant victim impact statement later read in court, she expressed that she genuinely believed she was going to be killed during the encounter. After Kudlak eventually fled the scene with stolen property, the bound victim managed to call out to her Amazon Alexa smart device, using it to contact her brother. Her brother immediately dialed 999 to alert the police, who rushed to the scene.

Sentencing in Court

Following a detailed investigation by Leicestershire Police, Kudlak was identified, arrested, and charged. Appearing before the court in May 2026, details of the "utterly terrifying" break-in were laid bare. Having pleaded guilty to charges including aggravated burglary and possession of an offensive weapon, Kudlak was handed a lengthy custodial sentence by the sentencing judge, who noted the profound psychological harm inflicted upon the victim.
