Masked intruders threaten to take child during terrifying Lisburn home invasion

Detectives in Lisburn are appealing for information following a deeply distressing burglary at a residential property in the area, during which a group of masked intruders threatened to take a young child.

The terrifying incident, which has left the local community in shock, occurred on Thursday, 14th November 2024. According to reports from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), a number of masked men forced entry into the home. Once inside, they confronted the occupants, demanding valuables and issuing a chilling threat to abduct a child present in the house.

While no physical injuries were reported, the psychological impact of the ordeal on the family has been described as severe. The suspects, who were reported to be dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered, fled the scene shortly after the confrontation. It is understood that police have launched a full investigation, security sweeps are being carried out, and patrols have been stepped up in the neighbourhood to reassure residents.

A spokesperson for the PSNI condemned the burglary: "This was a truly heinous and traumatising ordeal for the victims. To threaten a child in their own home is an abhorrent act, and we are putting all necessary resources into identifying and capturing those responsible. We urge anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity, individuals, or vehicles in the vicinity around the time of the incident to contact detectives immediately."

Anyone with information, including dash-cam, doorbell, or CCTV footage, is urged to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the reference number from November 14, or submit a report online via the PSNI portal.
