Liverpool Restaurants Targeted in Wave of High-Profile Commercial Burglaries
A series of break-ins targeting local dining venues has left Liverpool's hospitality sector on high alert. The most recent incident occurred at La Parrilla, a popular restaurant on Lark Lane, where masked men forced entry in the early hours of Monday, March 30, 2026. CCTV footage captured two individuals using a crowbar to pry open a side door between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.
Once inside, the burglars ransacked the premises, leaving the kitchen in disarray and spilling cooking oil across the floor. They stole several bottles of premium spiritsโincluding vodka, tequila, gin, and rumโand took the staff tip jar. Although they also carried off the restaurant's safe, the owner, Lewis Baigent, revealed it was empty, as cash had been removed following a previous burglary in September 2025 that cost the business ยฃ4,000 in cash and stock. Baigent expressed deep frustration, noting that La Parrilla was the fourth venue in the Lark Lane area to be hit in a 12-month period.
This incident follows a similar double burglary at Luminous Bar and Restaurant on Smithdown Road in October 2025. The newly opened family business was targeted twice in forty-eight hours. The first break-in on October 24 resulted in the theft of cash, food, alcohol, and electronics. The thieves returned the following night to steal more stock and damage the till. Owner Shahriar Ebrahimi estimated losses at nearly ยฃ6,000, compounded by the theft of food spoiled when the thieves left the walk-in freezer doors wide open. Merseyside Police are reviewing CCTV footage from both venues as part of their ongoing investigation.
