Anya Taylor-Joy and Husband Malcolm McRae Cornered in Terrifying London Mansion Burglary

LONDON — Hollywood actress Anya Taylor-Joy and her musician husband, Malcolm McRae, faced a terrifying ordeal when masked burglars broke into the luxury London mansion where they were staying. The incident occurred on February 12, 2023, when two suspects wearing balaclavas and gloves scaled the security walls of the property and smashed through a side glass door.

Barricaded in the Bedroom

Hearing the sound of breaking glass, McRae went to investigate and came face-to-face with the intruders. He immediately retreated to the couple's bedroom, locking and barricading the door to protect Taylor-Joy. The burglars followed him and attempted to force their way into the bedroom using a crowbar. In a bid to deter the suspects, McRae shouted that he had a firearm. The bluff worked, and the intruders fled the mansion empty-handed before police arrived.

Career Criminal Sentenced to Prison

One of the primary intruders was identified as 43-year-old Kirk Holdrick, a career criminal with a history of armed robbery. In December 2025, Holdrick was sentenced to three years in prison at Wood Green Crown Court after pleading guilty to the burglary. Prosecutors noted that the attempt to breach the bedroom suggested a targeted intrusion rather than a simple opportunistic theft. At the time of sentencing, Holdrick was already serving a 12-year sentence for a separate, violent home invasion committed just nine days after targeting the Hollywood couple.
