Newcastle Japanese Restaurant Targeted in Bollard Smash-and-Grab Burglary

NEWCASTLE โ€” A popular Japanese restaurant in Newcastle city centre has fallen victim to a destructive smash-and-grab burglary, resulting in property damage and stolen stock.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when an intruder retrieved a heavy metal street bollard and hurled it through the front window of the restaurant. Having shattered the glass, the suspect climbed through the broken window to gain access to the premises. The burglar targeted the bar area, stealing several bottles of alcohol before fleeing the scene before police could arrive.

The owners of the restaurant were left to clean up the significant damage, which disrupted normal business operations. Northumbria Police are currently investigating the incident, reviewing local CCTV footage to identify the suspect. Business owners in the area have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
