Prolific Nottingham Burglar Sentenced Following Flat Break-in
CCTV Leads to Arrest of Serial Burglar
A notorious burglar has been handed a lengthy prison sentence following a series of thefts in Nottingham. Robert Sisson, 37, of Gabrielle Close, was unequivocally caught on CCTV on the evening of March 17 while brazenly stealing a television from a block of flats on Garfield Road in the Radford area. Investigating officers swiftly identified Sisson from the security footage due to his extensive previous convictions for theft and burglary offenses. Following his arrest, Sisson refused to cooperate with police during interviews.
Guilty Pleas and Sentencing
Despite his initial refusal to explain his actions, Sisson ultimately pleaded guilty to the burglary. Furthermore, he admitted to committing two additional shop thefts on March 23 and March 28, as well as stealing an electric scooter on April 4. Appearing before Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, May 27, Sisson was sentenced to 876 days in prisonโamounting to nearly two and a half years behind bars. PC Imran Ahmed of Nottinghamshire Police commented on the sentencing: โSisson is a prolific offender who is no stranger to prison... For as long as he continues with this kind of offending, we will continue to arrest, charge, and bring him before the courts.โ
Securing Communal Living Spaces
Blocks of flats can often be targeted by opportunistic thieves looking to blend in or slip through unsecured communal doors. Residents should adhere to the following safety measures:
- Never 'tailgate' or hold the communal entrance door open for strangers, even if they claim to be visiting another resident or delivering a package.
- Ensure that the main communal door securely clicks shut and locks behind you every time you enter or exit the building.
- Report any faulty intercoms, broken locks, or unlit communal hallways to the building manager or landlord immediately.
- Ensure your individual flat door is fitted with a high-quality multipoint locking system and a wide-angle spyhole.
