Police Investigate Cash Machine Theft at Local Peterborough Shop
PETERBOROUGH โ A Peterborough convenience store has become the latest target in a series of commercial break-ins, after an in-store cash machine was stolen during the night.
The break-in occurred during the early hours of Monday, when suspects gained entry to the shop premises by forcing open the front roller shutters. Once inside, the perpetrators focused their efforts on the free-standing ATM, successfully extracting it from its mounts before fleeing the scene in a waiting vehicle.
Staff arriving for their morning shift discovered the damage and alerted the police. The shop front was left heavily damaged, with glass and debris strewn across the entrance. Cambridgeshire police have cordoned off the area and are reviewing local CCTV footage to identify the vehicles involved in the getaway.
Business owners in the area have expressed growing concern over the recurrence of ATM thefts and are calling for increased police presence and better security measures in commercial zones.
