Nine Charged in Connection with Fatal Lipson Road Acid Attack

Nine individuals have appeared before Plymouth Crown Court facing trial preparation hearings following a horrific and ultimately fatal chemical attack on a man inside his own residence. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Danny Cahalane, was attacked at a property on Lipson Road, Plymouth, on February 21, 2024. He tragically succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on May 3, 2024.

The defendants—consisting of seven residents from London and two from Plymouth—have been charged with conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to kidnap. Specifically, Abdulrasheed Adedoja (22), Jean Mukuna (23), Isanah Sungum (21), Ramarnee Bakas (22), Arrone Mukuna (24), and Brian Kalemba (22), all of London, alongside Plymouth residents Paris Wilson (34) and Jenna Said (39), face these severe charges. Additionally, a ninth defendant, Israel Augustus (25) of London, has been charged with applying a corrosive fluid with intent to burn, maim, disfigure, or cause grievous bodily harm, as well as aggravated burglary, possession of an offensive weapon, and drug-related offences.

Prosecutors indicated that the indictment is undergoing review following Mr. Cahalane's death, and a formal trial date has been provisionally scheduled for May 2026 at Winchester Crown Court before a High Court judge. All nine defendants have been remanded in custody. In a moving tribute, Mr. Cahalane's family described him as an outstanding father and son who was deeply cherished by his loved ones.
