Plymouth Police Hunt Fake Delivery Driver Following Audacious Co-op Robbery
A manhunt has been launched in Plymouth after a robbery at a local Co-op convenience store, where the perpetrator successfully gained entry and deceived staff by posing as a delivery driver. Detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect involved in this unusual and bold criminal act.
Deceptive Method of Entry
According to initial reports from Devon and Cornwall Police, the suspect arrived at the store disguised in clothing typical of a courier or delivery worker. Utilizing this disguise, the individual managed to bypass initial security checks and gain access to secure areas of the retail establishment before executing the robbery.
The incident has raised concerns among local retailers regarding the security protocols surrounding deliveries and vendor access. The suspect was able to escape the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash or goods, leaving store staff shaken but physically unharmed.
Ongoing Investigation
Police are reviewing high-definition CCTV footage from inside the Co-op and surrounding commercial properties in Plymouth. Officers are looking to establish the suspect's movements before and after the robbery, including whether any accomplice or vehicle was waiting nearby.
Retailers across Devon have been advised to tighten verification procedures for all unscheduled deliveries and to remain vigilant. Anyone who saw a delivery vehicle or a person acting suspiciously near the store on the afternoon of the incident is asked to contact the police immediately.
