Plymouth Police Apprehend Two Juveniles Following Park Side Mini-Mart Burglary
Devon and Cornwall Police have arrested two juveniles in connection with a late-night commercial burglary at the Park Side Mini-Mart in Plymouth. The incident, which unfolded late in the evening, involved a vehicle pursuit by a store employee and a track by a police dog.
Officers were dispatched to the Park Side Mini-Mart on Michigan Road in Plymouth, Devon, following reports of a break-in. Suspects had smashed the front glass door of the premises to gain entry and steal merchandise. As the two juvenile suspects attempted to flee the scene, a shop employee arrived and witnessed them running away. The employee pursued the fleeing suspects in a vehicle, striking one of them during the brief chase.
The suspects then fled on foot into the nearby Northgate estate, prompting police to establish a secure perimeter. A K-9 unit, led by police dog Castor, was deployed to track the youths. Castor successfully tracked the suspects to a wooded area to the northwest, where both juveniles were apprehended without further incident.
Due to injuries sustained during the incident, the suspects were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. They were later discharged into the custody of their parents while the investigation continues. Police have praised the effectiveness of the K-9 unit but cautioned members of the public against taking physical action to apprehend fleeing suspects themselves.
