Ram Raid at Plymouth Co-op: Cash Machine Ripped from Wall with Stolen Telehandler

A major investigation has been launched by Devon and Cornwall Police following a highly destructive ram raid at a Co-op supermarket in Plympton, Plymouth. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 2, 2025, involved the use of a stolen heavy utility vehicle to tear a cash machine directly from the building's exterior wall.

According to police reports, officers were alerted to the break-in at the commercial premises on Glen Road at approximately 1:45 AM. Perpetrators utilized a John Deere telehandlerโ€”which had been stolen earlier that nightโ€”to execute the raid. The heavy machinery was driven directly into the supermarket's wall, causing extensive structural damage before the cashpoint was dislodged and removed. The telehandler was subsequently left abandoned at the scene as the suspects fled with the stolen cash.

Devon and Cornwall Police quickly established a scene guard and cordoned off the area around the Co-op store to preserve forensic evidence. Detective inspectors are urgently appealing to the public for any information, dashcam footage, or CCTV recordings from the Glen Road area around the time of the incident that could help identify the individuals involved. Informants are urged to contact the police online or via 101, referencing log number 50260027042.
