Plymouth Man Charged Following ยฃ25,000 Stonehouse Auction House Burglary
A local man is scheduled to appear in court following a high-value burglary targeting an auction house in the Stonehouse area of Plymouth. Darren Roberts, aged 51 and residing on Grizedale Road in Eggbuckland, has been officially charged with non-dwelling burglary after a swift police investigation.
The Stonehouse Street Break-In
The alarm was raised around 10:00 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, when intruders successfully gained entry to the auctioneer's building on Stonehouse Street. Once inside, they targeted display cases and secured rooms, removing approximately ยฃ25,000 worth of premium jewellery, including gold chains, rings, and high-end watches.
Arrest, Search, and Recovery
Detectives from Plymouth's Priority Policing Team spearheading the case managed to trace the suspect to the suburb of Eggbuckland. The suspect was arrested at a property and transported to the Charles Cross police station custody suite for detailed interrogation.
Following the interview, officers executed a search warrant at the Eggbuckland property. The search was highly successful, resulting in the recovery of a large quantity of suspected stolen items, matching the description of the merchandise taken from the auction house. Roberts has been released on bail under strict conditions and is scheduled to stand trial at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Monday, February 19, 2026.
