Fleeing Teens Evade Police Following Salisbury Home Burglary

Teenagers Disturbed During Balmoral Road Break-in

Detectives from Wiltshire Police have launched an investigation following a disruptive daytime burglary at a residential property in Salisbury. The break-in occurred during the late afternoon of Friday, May 8, at an address on Balmoral Road. Two males, currently believed by investigators to be in their late teens, gained unlawful entry to the home. The suspects were subsequently disturbed while still inside the property. According to police reports, the two teenagers appeared to have caused significant damage to the interior of the home before hastily fleeing the scene on bicycles to evade capture.

Police Appeal for Local CCTV Footage

Officers are now turning to the local community for assistance in tracking down the fleeing suspects. A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police issued a direct appeal, stating: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at about 5 pm on 8th May or who may have CCTV footage taken from the time." Residents with relevant information or video evidence are urged to contact the investigating officer, PC Taysom, directly via email at [email protected]. Alternatively, information can be passed on completely anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Deterring Daytime Burglars

Daytime burglaries often rely on the assumption that properties are empty during working hours. Homeowners can take several steps to deter opportunistic thieves:

  • Ensure all side gates and rear access points are securely locked with heavy-duty padlocks to prevent easy entry and escape.
  • Install prominent, visible smart doorbell cameras or external CCTV systems, which act as a strong visual deterrent to potential burglars.
  • Always double-check that ground-floor windows and doors are fully secured before leaving the house, even if only for a short period.
