Intruders Target Former NatWest Bank Branch in Stoke-on-Trent
Emergency services were called to the scene of a former NatWest bank branch in Stoke-on-Trent after intruders managed to gain unauthorized access to the property. The incident occurred at the decommissioned commercial building, which has remained vacant since the branch ceased banking operations.
Police officers arrived at the premises shortly after receiving reports of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers inspected the exterior and interior of the property, confirming that a break-in had taken place. Work was immediately undertaken to secure the building's entry points and prevent further unauthorized access.
Vulnerability of Vacant Commercial Premises
Vacant commercial buildings, particularly former banks and high-street outlets, have increasingly become targets for intruders, vandals, and squatters. Local authorities are working with the property owners to ensure that robust security protocols are maintained at the site while it awaits redevelopment or tenancy.
Staffordshire Police are appealing to the public for any information regarding the incident. "Vacant properties can attract anti-social behavior and trespassing, and we are working to ensure this site remains secure. We urge anyone who saw suspicious activity around the old bank building to contact us," a police representative stated. Investigations into the identity of the intruders are ongoing.
