Dougie Mac Charity Devastated After Callous Break-in at Stoke-on-Trent Superstore
The Douglas Macmillan Hospice, widely known as Dougie Mac, has expressed deep devastation following a callous break-in at their charity superstore in Stoke-on-Trent. Intruders forced entry into the popular donation and retail center overnight, causing significant damage and stealing funds intended to support end-of-life care.
The break-in has sent shockwaves through the local community, which heavily supports the hospice's work. Staff and volunteers arriving for their morning shifts were met with broken doors, ransacked offices, and vandalized displays. The cost of repairing the damage and replacing stolen equipment is expected to severely impact the charity's immediate budget.
A representative from Dougie Mac shared their heartbreak: "To target a charity that provides vital care to local people at their most vulnerable times is incredibly disheartening. Our volunteers work tirelessly to keep our stores running, and to see their efforts disrupted like this is devastating."
Staffordshire Police are currently investigating the incident and examining forensic evidence left at the scene. They are appealing to members of the public who may have noticed any suspicious activity near the superstore during the night to contact them immediately.
