Leon Bailey Arrested Following Charity Shop Burglary and Police Chase in Wolverhampton City Centre
WOLVERHAMPTON, West Midlands — A police pursuit in Wolverhampton has culminated in the arrest of a 44-year-old suspect connected to a commercial burglary at a local charity shop.
Leon Bailey, 44, was spotted by law enforcement officers on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The sighting followed investigations into a break-in earlier in the month at a charity shop located on Victoria Street in Wolverhampton's city centre. When officers approached Bailey, he reportedly attempted to flee on foot, triggering a brief chase that ended with his detention on Stafford Road.
According to West Midlands Police, the burglary occurred in March, with intruders stealing electrical items valued at approximately ยฃ300 from the charitable establishment. Bailey has since been formally charged with burglary and was scheduled to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
In addition to the burglary charge, Bailey is facing multiple charges related to retail crime and violence. These include a series of shoplifting offences and an alleged assault on a retail employee, stemming from separate incidents at shops on Cannock Road.
