Brazen theft of $10K fence caught on camera at Albuquerque distillery
A craft distillery in Albuquerque is reeling from the brazen theft of a custom exterior fence valued at approximately $10,000. The entire incident, which occurred in broad daylight, was captured on high-definition security cameras, providing investigators with clear footage of the suspects in action.
High-Value Property Stolen
The theft took place on the perimeter of the distillery's outdoor patio area on May 5, 2026. Security footage shows a group of individuals systematically dismantling and loading the heavy, custom-fabricated metal fencing into a flatbed truck. The process took several minutes, during which the suspects showed no hesitation or fear of detection despite the high-traffic location.
"To have a custom, heavy security structure stolen right off our property is shocking," said the distillery owner. "This wasn't a quick grab-and-go crime; it was planned and executed with professional tools."
Police Seeking Public Assistance
The Albuquerque Police Department has released segments of the surveillance video to the public in hopes of identifying the suspects and the vehicle involved. The custom design of the fence makes it highly recognizable, and authorities believe the thieves may attempt to sell the metal for scrap or reuse it in another construction project. Anyone with information is urged to contact local Crime Stoppers.
