Bystanders Trap Suspected Burglars at Tanger Outlets in Antioch

ANTIOCH, TN — Dramatic footage captured the moment alert shoppers intervened to trap suspected shoplifters at the Tanger Outlets shopping complex in Antioch, Tennessee.

The incident occurred on June 3, 2024, when retail employees noticed a group of individuals attempting a coordinated shoplifting run inside one of the premium stores. As the suspects tried to make a quick exit with armfuls of designer merchandise, bystanders at the mall took action. A group of shoppers blocked the escape path, locking doors and preventing the suspects from fleeing into the parking lot.

Metro Nashville Police officers arrived shortly thereafter to take custody of the individuals. Authorities commended the shoppers for their quick thinking but cautioned the public about the inherent dangers of directly confronting fleeing suspects.
