Burglary Suspect Arrested After Tripping Alarm at Spirit River Cafe in Apple Valley
APPLE VALLEY, CA — A commercial burglary suspect was apprehended by Apple Valley deputies after an audible security alarm alerted law enforcement to a break-in at the Spirit River Cafe on Apple Valley Road.
Audible Alarm Alerts Deputies
The incident began in the early morning hours when a security system triggered an audible alarm at the Spirit River Cafe, located in the 16000 block of Apple Valley Road. Deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station arrived at the scene within minutes and observed significant damage to the cafe’s front entry doors, as well as signs of vandalism inside the business.
Foot Pursuit and Arrest
Upon inspecting the perimeter, deputies spotted a suspect fleeing the back of the establishment. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Fabian Estrada, ignored commands to stop, leading deputies on a brief foot chase through the commercial complex. Deputies successfully detained Estrada a short distance away without further incident.
A search of Estrada’s person revealed burglary tools and items believed to have been taken from the cafe. Investigators confirmed that the cafe’s interior had been ransacked, with damage to the cash register and point-of-sale systems. Estrada was transported and booked into the High Desert Detention Center on charges of commercial burglary, felony vandalism, and resisting arrest.
Business owners in the area expressed relief at the swift response, noting that high-decibel audible alarms remain one of the most effective deterrents against late-night commercial burglaries.
