Screwdriver-Wielding Woman Arrested Following Attempted Walmart Robbery in Apple Valley
APPLE VALLEY, CA — A woman wielding a screwdriver was taken into custody by Apple Valley sheriff’s deputies after she allegedly threatened store employees and forced her way inside a local Walmart store prior to its regular opening hours.
Threats with a Dangerous Weapon
According to the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station, the incident occurred at the Walmart located in the 20200 block of Highway 18. Store staff reported that a woman, later identified as 37-year-old Jamie Lynn Salvador, approached the entrance and attempted to enter the business before it opened to the public. When employees informed her that the store was closed and denied her entry, Salvador allegedly brandished a screwdriver and made verbal threats towards them.
Forced Entry and Rapid Response
Undeterred by the locked doors and warnings, Salvador managed to push her way past the workers and enter the retail establishment. Once inside, she reportedly began gathering merchandise and attempted to exit the store with unpaid items. Deputized officers arrived on the scene within minutes of receiving the emergency call, locating Salvador inside the building.
Salvador was detained without further incident. Deputies recovered the screwdriver used in the confrontation and recovered the stolen merchandise. She was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on charges of robbery, brandishing a weapon, and commercial burglary. Her bail was set in accordance with local county guidelines.
Local authorities praised the quick thinking of the Walmart staff who immediately contacted law enforcement, preventing any physical injuries during the tense standoff.
