Alexandria Man Arrested After Threatening Arlington Store Staff with Scissors

ARLINGTON, Virginia — An Alexandria man has been taken into custody and charged with robbery following a tense incident in which store employees were threatened with scissors, police announced.

The incident occurred on May 19, 2026, at a commercial establishment in Arlington. According to the Arlington County Police Department, the suspect entered the business and began selecting merchandise. When store staff approached him, the suspect brandished a pair of scissors and threatened them, demanding they step back.

The suspect then left the store with the stolen items. Responding officers quickly flooded the area, obtaining a detailed description of the suspect from the shaken but unharmed employees. Within a short period, officers located a man matching the description nearby.

The suspect, identified as a resident of neighboring Alexandria, was detained and subsequently identified as the perpetrator. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Arlington County Detention Facility on charges of robbery. The scissors used during the offense were recovered by police. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
