Homeowner Shoots Armed Intruder During Arlington Home Invasion

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A violent home invasion in the Arlington neighborhood ended with the suspect shot by the homeowner, according to officials with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO).

The incident occurred on November 18, 2025, when an armed suspect attempted to force entry into a residential property. Police reports indicate the suspect, carrying a firearm, breached the home, creating an immediate threat to the residents inside.

Fearing for their life, the homeowner drew their own weapon and fired at the intruder, striking him. The suspect fled the immediate scene but was located by responding JSO officers shortly after. He was transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds; his current condition has not been detailed.

The homeowner and other occupants of the home were unharmed during the ordeal. JSO detectives and crime scene units spent several hours at the residence gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. The incident remains under active investigation, and charges against the suspect are pending his release from medical care. Under Florida law, the homeowner is not currently facing charges for defending the residence.
