Persistent Burglar Kicks Down Athens Store Door After Failed Prying Attempts

ATHENS, GA — A local retail store in Athens, Georgia, fell victim to a determined burglar whose persistent efforts to break into the business were fully captured on surveillance video.

Failed Break-In Attempts Recorded

According to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the suspect first attempted to pry open the front door of the establishment using a crowbar-like tool. Unsuccessful on his first attempt, the burglar left, only to return twice more to try prying open the door. After three failed attempts, the frustrated thief resorted to brute force, kicking the lower panel of the glass door until it shattered and gave way.

Theft and Escape

Once inside, the suspect ransacked the counter area, targeting the cash register and snatching premium display items. The entire incident lasted less than two minutes before the burglar fled into the night. Police have released portions of the surveillance footage, hoping that members of the public will recognize the suspect's distinctive clothing or physical stature.
