Store Looted in Downtown Athens by Smash-and-Grab Thieves

ATHENS, GA — Police are searching for suspects after a retail store in downtown Athens was looted during a smash-and-grab burglary late Thursday night.

According to investigators, the thieves shattered the glass front doors of the storefront to gain entry. Once inside, they quickly grabbed high-value items, including display merchandise, and fled the scene before officers could respond to the store's alarm. The burglary occurred in a matter of minutes, leaving the shop with broken windows and empty display shelves.
