Till Jail Do Us Part: Couple Arrested for Alison Court SW Convenience Store Burglary in Southwest Atlanta
ATLANTA, GA — In a case labeled by police as a real-life "Till Jail Do Us Part" scenario, a couple has been arrested and charged in connection with a heist at a convenience store in Southwest Atlanta. The arrest of Martell Johnson, 28, and Gabrielle Murray, 31, wraps up a two-month investigation into a commercial burglary where thousands of dollars in cash and lottery tickets were stolen.
The 4:00 AM Break-In
The burglary occurred in the early morning hours of January 5, 2026, at a convenience store located in the 2000 block of Alison Court SW. According to Atlanta Police, two masked individuals broke into the closed storefront at approximately 4:00 a.m. The suspects stole approximately $5,000 in cash, several cartons of cigarettes, and 315 lottery tickets. Later that same day, surveillance cameras at a different location captured one of the suspects attempting to redeem several of the stolen scratch-off tickets.
High-Risk Traffic Stop and Apprehension
On March 10, 2026, Zone 4 Atlanta Police officers spotted the suspects' vehicle on Campbellton Road SW. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and took both Johnson and Murray into custody. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered the 315 stolen lottery tickets. Crucially, a baby was also discovered in the back seat of the vehicle during the traffic stop, leading to child welfare notifications in addition to the criminal charges.
Johnson and Murray have both been charged with second-degree burglary and felony theft by taking. While Johnson remains held in the Fulton County Jail, Murray was released on a $45,000 bond as they await their next court appearances.
