Midnight Coffee Shop Break-In: Two Arrested Inside Kennesaw Caribou Coffee for Burglary and Bathing in Restroom
KENNESAW, GA — What was meant to be a quiet night at a local coffee shop turned into a bizarre crime scene in the early hours of Monday, May 11, 2026. Two individuals, identified as Alyssa Clingan and Austin Gravett, were arrested inside a Caribou Coffee located on Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw, a suburb in the metro Atlanta area, after breaking into the establishment after hours.
An Unscheduled Bathing Session
According to reports from the Kennesaw Police Department, officers were dispatched to the closed business shortly after 1:00 a.m. following an anonymous 911 call. The caller reported seeing two suspicious individuals entering the locked storefront. When police arrived and conducted a sweep of the building, they heard music echoing from the restrooms. Upon entering, officers discovered Clingan and Gravett, who had made themselves at home and were using the restroom sinks to bathe.
Drug Paraphernalia and Legal Consequences
A further search of the scene and the suspects' belongings yielded illicit items. Officers recovered three shattered drug pipes and a plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance, which subsequently field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The couple had apparently compromised the security of the business not only to seek shelter and bathe but also to consume illegal substances.
Both Clingan and Gravett were taken into custody without incident and transported to the local jail. They face a battery of charges, including commercial burglary, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related objects, and tampering with evidence. Store management is cooperating with law enforcement to assess property damage and secure the premises.
