Armed Robber Grabs Clerk’s Gun and Cash at Quick Pick Food Mart in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Police Department is investigating a gunpoint robbery at a local convenience store where a suspect fled with thousands of dollars in cash and the clerk's personal firearm. The incident took place at the Quick Pick Food Mart on Lakewood Avenue in Southeast Atlanta.

Gunpoint Confrontation and Theft

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 1:43 a.m., an unidentified male suspect entered the convenience store and began tampering with one of the gaming machines located inside. When the store clerk approached the suspect to confront him, the suspect drew a handgun and held the clerk at gunpoint. He then ordered the clerk to open the cash register, securing approximately $3,000 in cash.

Before leaving, the suspect noticed the clerk’s personal handgun—a Smith & Wesson CSX—and snatched it. The suspect then exited the food mart and fled the scene in a blue SUV, which witnesses and surveillance footage described as a late 1990s or 2000 Chevrolet Suburban or GMC Yukon.

Police Seek Information

Investigators have released clear surveillance clips of the suspect and the vehicle in hopes that members of the public can help identify them. The suspect is described as a male of medium build, wearing dark clothing and a face covering during the robbery. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Atlanta Police Department or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers Atlanta, where a cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest.
