Bizarre ATM Theft Attempt: Stolen Machine Dropped from 2nd Story of Atlanta Condo

ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta police are investigating an unusual attempted burglary at a condominium building where suspects managed to drop a stolen ATM from the second floor during an escape attempt.

According to WSB-TV, the incident occurred during the early hours of the morning. The suspects had successfully detached the automated teller machine inside the building. However, while trying to transport the heavy machine down, they apparently struggled with the weight and dropped it from a second-story balcony. The falling ATM caused visible damage to the structure and landed on the ground below with a loud crash, alerting residents and security.

Following the drop, the suspects abandoned the damaged machine and fled the scene in a waiting vehicle. Police officers arrived shortly after to find the ATM cracked open but with the cash vault still secured. Investigations are ongoing as police examine the forensic evidence left behind on the machine and search for security footage of the getaway vehicle.
