Thief Snatches $240,000 Jewelry Piece from Luxor Fine Jewelry on Roswell Road
ATLANTA, GA โ Atlanta police are searching for a thief who walked out of an upscale jewelry store with a single item valued at approximately $240,000. The grand larceny occurred during the afternoon of Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Luxor Fine Jewelry, located at 4279 Roswell Road NE in the Chastain Square shopping center.
The Grab-and-Run Incident
According to the Atlanta Police Department, the suspect entered the retail store pretending to be an interested buyer. After browsing the displays, he requested to examine a specific, high-value piece of jewelry. As the store employee presented the item, the suspect grabbed the piece directly out of the worker's hands. He then fled the building on foot, heading towards the parking lot before disappearing from view.
Investigators released surveillance camera footage showing the suspect inside the store. The individual is described as a male wearing a distinctive dark athletic track suit with white stripes. He spent several minutes observing display cases near the exit before executing the theft.
Security Measures and Industry Warning
Local law enforcement and the Jewelers' Security Alliance (JSA) have issued alerts to other jewelry stores in the Buckhead and North Atlanta areas. The theft fits the profile of "grab-and-run" jewelry shop thefts, which have seen a rise nationwide. Luxor Fine Jewelry is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation, and police are asking anyone who recognizes the man in the surveillance images to call the Atlanta Police Department's robbery unit or contact Crime Stoppers.
