Man Shot and Seriously Injured During Attempted Armed Robbery in Auburn

AUBURN, AL โ€” A victim is recovering in the hospital with serious injuries after being shot during an attempted armed robbery in a parking lot on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred just before 9:00 p.m. on November 6, 2024, in the 600 block of M Street Northeast in Auburn. According to the Auburn Police Department, the victim, identified as Clynn Wilkinson, was walking toward his vehicle in a church parking lot when he was confronted by two unidentified men.

Ambush and Shooting

Investigators state that the two suspects, both dressed in dark clothing, approached Wilkinson and demanded his belongings at gunpoint. Before Wilkinson could comply or escape, one of the suspects fired multiple rounds, striking Wilkinson twice. The suspects immediately fled the scene on foot without obtaining any property.

Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly after receiving 911 calls from nearby residents who heard the gunfire. Wilkinson was treated at the scene for life-threatening injuries and rushed to a local trauma center, where he was admitted in serious condition.

Investigation and Suspect Search

Auburn detectives and K-9 units immediately launched a sweep of the neighborhood, but the suspects were not located. Police describe the assailants as two males wearing black hoodies and masks. Officers are currently reviewing surveillance footage from residences and commercial establishments in the vicinity of M Street Northeast.

Local community leaders have expressed deep concern over the shooting, and law enforcement is urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or security system recordings from the area between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on the night of the incident to contact the Auburn Police Department tip line.
