Intruder Bakes 'Tortilla' Pizza During Downtown Austin Restaurant Break-In
AUSTIN, Texas โ In one of the more unusual commercial break-ins reported recently, an intruder is facing charges after breaking into a downtown Austin restaurant to prepare a late-night snack. According to a police affidavit, the suspect made a "tortilla" pizza in the establishment's kitchen.
The incident came to light when the restaurant owner noticed evidence of an unauthorized entry and food preparation inside the kitchen area. A subsequent police investigation and review of the affidavit revealed that the intruder had bypassed security to gain access to the kitchen, where he located tortillas, sauce, and cheese to assemble and bake a pizza.
Responding officers located the suspect nearby and took him into custody. He has been charged with commercial burglary. While the financial loss of food ingredients was minimal, the breach of security and potential health code implications of an unauthorized person using kitchen facilities have prompted the restaurant owner to upgrade their premises' security systems.
