Attempted Armed Carjacking at Austin Kwik Trip Leads to Charges

AUSTIN, Texas — A man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly attempting an armed carjacking at a Kwik Trip convenience store in Austin. The incident, which unfolded in the store's parking lot, left witnesses shaken but resulted in no physical injuries to the victim.

According to charging documents, the suspect approached a parked vehicle, brandished a weapon, and demanded that the driver yield control of the automobile. The quick-thinking driver refused to comply and managed to safely escape the confrontation, prompting the suspect to flee on foot before police arrived.

Responding officers quickly established a perimeter in the surrounding area and successfully apprehended the suspect a short distance from the scene. He has been charged with attempted armed robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon, and attempted carjacking. He is currently being held at the local detention facility awaiting his initial court appearance.
