Suspects Use Heavy Construction Equipment to Steal ATM from Baltimore Bank before Fleeing in U-Haul

BALTIMORE, MD — In a brazen and highly destructive Christmas Eve heist, thieves used heavy construction equipment to rip an automated teller machine (ATM) directly from a Baltimore bank building before making their escape in a U-Haul cargo van.

According to Baltimore Police, the incident occurred in the early hours of December 24, 2024. The suspects managed to commandeer heavy machinery, which they used to tear through the bank's exterior wall and extract the vault containing the cash. The structural damage to the bank building was extensive, leaving debris scattered across the parking lot and sidewalk.

After separating the ATM from its foundation, the suspects loaded the machine into a waiting U-Haul van and fled the scene before officers arrived. Detectives are currently gathering surveillance footage from nearby businesses and looking into recent reports of stolen construction equipment in the area to locate the suspects. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
