Fifth Teenager Arrested in Connection with January Armed Robbery and Shooting

BATON ROUGE, LA โ€” Detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department have arrested a fifth teenager in connection with a violent armed robbery and shooting that took place in January. The suspect was taken into custody following a lengthy investigation into the incident, which occurred at the start of the year.

The shooting, which left one victim injured, sparked an intensive multi-agency investigation. Four other juveniles had previously been arrested in connection with the crime. Investigators allege that the group of teenagers conspired to execute an armed robbery, which escalated when gunfire was exchanged.

BRPD officials stated that the fifth suspect has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and armed robbery, and has been booked into the local juvenile detention facility. Authorities continue to emphasize their focus on addressing youth-related violent crime in Baton Rouge and holding all individuals involved in armed violent acts accountable.
