Houston Street Gang Members Convicted in Multi-Thousand Dollar ATM Robberies and Jugging Ring in Beaumont

BEAUMONT, Texas — A federal investigation into a sophisticated regional robbery ring has culminated in the convictions of four Houston-based street gang members. The group was prosecuted for executing high-value bank "juggings" and armed ATM heists in Beaumont, resulting in losses exceeding $300,000.

According to federal court records and the Beaumont Police Department, the defendants—identified as Charles "Doughboy" Byrd, Kendrick "Bullet" Warren, Derrick "D-Brooks" Brooks, and Derramy Deonita Foster—were members of the Houston-based "100% Third Ward" (103) street gang. The group targeted bank customers carrying large cash withdrawals (a practice known as jugging) as well as ATM technicians performing maintenance on machines.

Key incidents linked to the gang include a December ATM robbery at the Education First Federal Credit Union on Laurel Avenue in Beaumont, where two masked suspects rushed a technician and stole approximately $146,000 in under 20 seconds. The suspects then fled in a stolen red SUV before being tracked by law enforcement. A separate heist on October 8, 2024, at a PNC Bank on Phelan Boulevard resulted in the theft of $153,000 from another ATM technician.

Following an extensive investigation by the FBI and the Beaumont Police Department's Special Assignment Unit, the suspects were arrested and indicted on federal charges. In March 2026, Charles Bernard Byrd was found guilty by a federal jury of conspiracy to commit bank robbery and aiding and abetting bank robbery. His three co-defendants, Warren, Brooks, and Foster, previously entered guilty pleas. Byrd faces up to 25 years in federal prison, marking a decisive blow against organized gang operations targeting businesses in Southeast Texas.
