Former NYPD Officer Accused of Selling Information to Burglars at Brooklyn Criminal Court

BROOKLYN, NY — A major breach of integrity has been uncovered within the local justice system, as a former NYPD officer stands accused of selling confidential details to active burglars. The officer allegedly abused their position while assigned to the Brooklyn Criminal Court, accessing sensitive databases to assist criminals.

According to prosecutors, the officer had access to court scheduling, active warrants, and police patrol details. This information was allegedly compiled and sold to criminal associates, enabling them to plan burglaries and avoid law enforcement detection. The scheme came to light following a joint investigation by internal affairs and federal partners.

"An officer's duty is to uphold the law, not to facilitate its violation," said a representative from the prosecution during a press briefing. The department has since implemented stricter access controls for database search tools within court facilities to prevent similar breaches of security.

The former officer has been suspended and faces multiple felony charges, including official misconduct and conspiracy. If convicted, the individual faces significant prison time. The investigation is ongoing to determine if other officers or court personnel were involved in the operation.
