Charleston Man Arrested After Armed Robbery at Skatell's Jewelry Store in West Ashley

CHARLESTON, South Carolina — A local man faces multiple felony charges following a high-stakes armed robbery at Skatell's Jewelry Store, situated in the West Ashley neighborhood of Charleston. The terrifying ordeal involved store employees being held at gunpoint and bound with zip ties while the suspect ransacked the display cases.

According to the Charleston Police Department, the suspect entered the retail store and immediately threatened staff members with a weapon. To prevent them from contacting emergency services or interfering with the heist, the perpetrator bound the employees' hands using heavy-duty plastic zip ties. He then proceeded to steal a substantial quantity of jewelry before escaping the scene.

Following a rapid investigation by local detectives, a Charleston man was successfully identified, located, and taken into custody. He has been formally charged with armed robbery and kidnapping related to the restraint of the employees. Fortunately, the victims escaped the incident without physical injuries, though they were left shaken by the experience.

Skatell's Jewelry Store has expressed gratitude to the police department for their swift action in apprehending the suspect and recovering part of the stolen inventory. The suspect is currently being held at the local detention center pending a bond hearing.
