Tragic East Charlotte Home Invasion: Gun Pointed at Toddler, Man Fatally Shot

CHARLOTTE, NC — In a horrifying display of violence, a home invasion in East Charlotte has resulted in the death of a resident. Newly released police affidavits reveal that during the incident, the suspects went so far as to point a gun at a one-year-old infant to coerce cooperation from the victims.

A Terrifying Assault

According to court documents and investigators, the incident took place on August 15, 2024. Armed intruders forced their way into a residence in the eastern sector of the city. Once inside, they confronted the occupants, demanding valuables. In an effort to terrorize the household, one of the intruders pointed a handgun directly at a one-year-old child.

The situation quickly escalated into violence, culminating in the shooting of a male occupant. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Emergency services arrived shortly after the suspects fled, but were unable to revive the man.

Investigation and Search for Suspects

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) detectives are actively working the case, interviewing neighbors and scouring the area for security footage. Police have described the suspects as armed and dangerous and are appealing to the public for any tips that might lead to their identification and arrest. No arrests have been made at this time.
